DIT Mission-Goals-Program Outcomes

Dietetic Technician Mission-Goals-Program Outcomes

The mission of the Dietetics program is to provide students with the knowledge, attitudes and skills needed to function as competent entry-level Dietetic Technicians.

To support the mission of the program the following Program Goals have been developed:

  • Prepare graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to pass the registration exam and become competent entry-level dietetic technicians.
  • Prepare graduates to secure employment in dietetics or related field.

Achievement of these goals is monitored through a multi-faceted, on-going process that includes the following stakeholders: administration, faculty, preceptors, students, graduates, employers and Advisory Committee.

An important aspect of the program is the practical experience. Students are placed in long-term care facilities, acute care hospitals and community settings. After completing designated coursework in preparation for the practical experience, students can observe and practice current principles of dietetic practice.
