Co-requisites: CRE 101 OR CRE 103 (if required) must be taken concurrently, if not successfully completed prior to enrolling in ENG 101. Description This course introduces students to college-level, academic writing. Emphasis is placed on critical analysis, argumentation, intellectual honesty and revision. Through the writing process, students refine arguments; develop and support ideas; investigate, evaluate, and integrate appropriate sources; revise and edit for effective style and usages; and develop an awareness of the variety of contexts, audiences, and purposes of academic writing. Students produce five to seven reading-based, multi-paragraphed argumentative essays of increasing difficulty, totaling 15-20 pages for the semester.
