Description
This course provides the student with a management perspective and understanding of organizations. mitigation, prevention, planning, preparedness, readiness, response and recovery relating to homeland security events. The focus is on U.S. policies and programs to address the hazard posed by international and domestic terrorism, particularly the risks posed by weapons of mass destruction since 9/11.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Outline the management issues related to a major homeland security event.
- Summarize organizations involved in homeland security.
- Explain mitigation efforts.
- Describe prevention techniques.
- Identify preparation and readiness techniques.
- Describe national incident response capabilities.
- Explain recovery efforts should a homeland security event occur.
- Evaluate Homeland Security and Emergency Management services and systems.
