Description
This is a course to develop an understanding and appreciation of the visual arts and artistic periods of Western Civilization from the prehistoric through medieval Europe to the Renaissance.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Identify, in a chronologic order, major western artistic periods, and eras, from pre-history through medieval Europe to the Renaissance.
- Describe the role that art played in the development of civilization as language and invention.

- Chronological survey of western pre-historic art and major artistic eras and periods through medieval Europe to the Renaissance.
- Overview of the rise of civilization through major artistic periods and the communicative and technological role that art played in the evolution of western civilization from the pre-historic through the Middle Ages to the Renaissance.
