EGR 181 - Introduction to Mechanical Systems Credits: 3 3 Skills Lab Hours
Description This course will provide students with the experience and understanding of how to assemble mechanical drive systems that include couplings, shafts, bearings, belt drives, drive trains or gears. This is accomplished through a series of hands-on exercises performed in the lab. Safety, installation, maintenance and repair of these systems will be highlighted. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Identify the components in a mechanical system.
- Construct various types of mechanical systems and demonstrate their operation.
- Calculate the expected outcome of a mechanical system.
- Measure the operation of a mechanical system.
- Build a mechanical system that will produce a predetermined outcome.
