EGR 113 - Engineering Materials Credits: 4 3 Lecture Hours 4 Lab Hours
Description (Formerly MET-112) This course is a study of the properties of materials and the primary processing methods used in manufacturing. Emphasis is on ferrous metals and their relationship to other metals and non-metals. Methods of testing engineering materials are discussed and demonstrated. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Name the basic properties of engineering materials.
- Delineate the basic processing methods used in manufacturing.
- Describe the relationship between the structure of a material and its properties.
- Employ material testing to obtain reliable data on the properties of engineering materials.
- Evaluate the selection and use of materials for engineering applications.
