Description
This didactic course covers the nurse’s role in safe medication drug administration. It utilizes an evidence based approach to patient teaching, assessment of adverse effects, evaluation of medication effectiveness and avoidance of medication errors. This course requires a per credit health career fee; check the tuition and fee schedule for the current rate.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Describe the role of clinical judgment in the safe and effective administration of medications.
- Explain caring behaviors related to medication administration and complementary therapies.
- Analyze appropriate communication techniques for use in medication administration and complementary therapies.
- Choose appropriate media in the development of a medication teaching plan.
- Articulate the role of the nurse in safe medication administration including electronic and written documentation utilizing evidence-based practice.
