Description This course provides students with a survey of mass media including print, electronic and digital with a particular focus on the evolution and impact of the internet, digital media and social media. The concepts and skills covered in this course prepare students to critically analyze the social, cultural and economic roles of media in a global society. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Describe significant innovations in media history.
- Explain theories related to media use and effects.
- Explain the social and cultural role of media.
- Describe the economic structure of major media industries.
- Explain key concepts in media law and ethics.
