Description In this course, students learn the essential aspects of job safety and health, emphasizing legal frameworks such as workers’ compensation and OSHA standards. The practical segment focuses on first aid and emergency protocols like cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) operations. The course equips students with the skills to assess risks, apply safety measures and effectively respond to workplace medical emergencies. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Analyze current legal occupational safety and health standards and requirements.
- Assess the impact of occupational injuries and illnesses on business.
- Apply risk management methods to enforce safety policies.
- Develop strategies to mitigate occupational accidents.
- Demonstrate basic first aid, CPR and AED techniques for emergency management of wounds, respiratory complications, cardiac arrest and acute illnesses.
