PAL 201 - Advanced Legal Research and Writing

Prerequisites: PAL 101  

 
Description
This course builds on the legal research and writing skills developed in PAL 101. Students conduct advanced legal research using digital tools and platforms. Students analyze, synthesize and communicate research findings through writing various legal documents, including memoranda, trial and appellate court briefs.


Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:

  1. Identify proper citation format in legal writing.
  2. Conduct efficient and comprehensive legal research using digital tools, platforms and strategies.
  3. Communicate legal analysis clearly and effectively in various written formats, including legal memoranda, trial and appellate briefs and motions.
  4. Evaluate primary and secondary legal sources.
  5. Demonstrate professional written communication skills for legal practice.
