THE 122 - Technical Theatre 2 Credits: 3 3 Lecture Hours
Prerequisites: THE 121
Description In this course students refine the skills learned in Technical Theatre 1. They use computer lighting and sound control. Students also learn advanced scenic construction techniques and the duties of theatre personnel. Through building on previous experience and further developing technical skills, they gain expertise needed for theatrical production work in a leadership role. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Define the role of the designer.
- Research historical accuracy of architectural details as it relates to an individual theatrical production.
- Describe various stage lighting instruments and their functions.
- Read a light plot and hang the fixtures.
- Demonstrate a competency in the various crew positions.
- Identify the different fly systems and safe rigging practices.
- Design sets.
- Construct and paint scenery.
