Description In this course, students are introduced to stage management. They each stage manage their own short production, focusing on the essential organizational skills of this theatrical role. Students experience first-hand the coordination needed between directors, designers, casts and crews. Practical experience managing an onstage production provides students with insight into the pivotal role of the stage manager from pre-production planning through performance. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Outline the role of a stage manager.
- Organize a rehearsal schedule.
- Collaborate with the director on all aspects of the rehearsal process and performances.
- Create a property list.
- Manage a cast and crew.
- Record planned stage movement.
- Execute a stage production.
- Construct a prompt book.
- Identify the requirements to stage manage a professional theatrical production.
