Description CAR 101 immerses students in the foundational principles and techniques essential for professional commercial carpentry. Emphasis is placed on safety and precision, blending theory with robust laboratory practice. Students learn Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, structural framing and innovative interior systems. Skill development in tool operation and concrete framing prepares students for real-world applications. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Articulate essential safety standards, including OSHA and Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) regulations.
- Demonstrate proficiency operating hand and power-actuated tools.
- Discuss workplace ethics, addressing sexual harassment and substance abuse policies.
- Construct structural elements for various construction projects, employing framing techniques.
- Design and assemble a range of contemporary concrete forms.
- Create interior systems utilizing light gauge metal framing.
