CAR 115 - Mathematics for Carpenters 1

Description
CAR 115 establishes the mathematical foundations necessary for precision in carpentry. Focusing on applied mathematics, students engage with practical computation and analysis, developing skills with tools such as speed squares and framing squares and applying geometry in carpentry projects.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:

  1. Calculate linear, board, square and cubic measurements for various carpentry materials.
  2. Determine measurements accurately to the nearest eighth of an inch and nearest centimeter.
  3. Estimate material needs to generate detailed order sheets for carpentry projects.
  4. Apply the Pythagorean Theorem to establish accurate building lines.
  5. Construct batter boards and utilize strings to define building lines precisely.
