Description CAR 202 is designed to refine the carpentry skills necessary for advanced commercial construction work. Emphasizing practical experience, students learn how to properly perform door installations, the operation of sophisticated tools as well as advanced techniques in rigging and welding. Students develop proficiency in comprehensive building practices, including Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) concepts. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Construct various wood and metal doors, utilizing precise measurement and fitting techniques.
- Operate specialized stationary power and pneumatic tools for construction tasks.
- Demonstrate competency in handling and moving materials to earn industry-standard rigging and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-hour construction certifications.
- Show proficiency in welding and cutting on metal studding, adhering to safety and quality standards.
- Construct different window types, ensuring proper insulation and fit.
- Incorporate LEED concepts into carpentry projects.
