FLM 110 - Basic Construction Film/Media Production Credits: 3 1 Lecture Hours 4 Lab Hours
Description This course trains students in basic carpentry and construction techniques applicable to the film and media production industry. Students learn to utilize basic hand and power tools. In addition, proper safety measures are followed and students learn how to properly use rigging equipment. Building scenery for a media production is a major course component. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Identify appropriate safety behavior regarding hand and power tools through a tools test.
- Construct scenery as required for film and media productions.
- Solve problems within a team to complete necessary group exercises.
- Examine rigging techniques and knots for rope and wire strength through a demonstration.
- Identify appropriate cutting techniques for wooden models following recommended process for safety and efficiency.
- Demonstrate an appropriate response to marking, measuring and cutting accuracy through a diagram.
