FLM 121 - Special Effects Makeup

Description
This course introduces students to practical film special effects makeup. Students learn to life cast a model. Using an understanding of life casting, students use the life cast to sculpt, mold, cast and apply a full-face prosthetic.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:

  1. Construct a full-face foam latex prosthetic.
  2. Apply a life cast on a fellow student.
  3. Design a corrected positive of the life cast.
  4. Build a prosthetic using oil-based clay.
  5. Assess special effects makeup technique considering constructive criticism from a critique.
  6. Examine material parameters for a prosthetic using a model.
