FLM 121 - Special Effects Makeup Credits: 4 2 Lecture Hours 4 Lab Hours
Description This course introduces students to practical film special effects makeup. Students learn to life cast a model. Using an understanding of life casting, students use the life cast to sculpt, mold, cast and apply a full-face prosthetic. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Construct a full-face foam latex prosthetic.
- Apply a life cast on a fellow student.
- Design a corrected positive of the life cast.
- Build a prosthetic using oil-based clay.
- Assess special effects makeup technique considering constructive criticism from a critique.
- Examine material parameters for a prosthetic using a model.
