STI 130 - Ornamental Ironworking 1 Credits: 3 2 Lecture Hours 2 Lab Hours
Description This course places emphasis on the importance of proper layout techniques needed for both ornamental fabrication and erection. Students gain competence in precision measuring and utilizing power tools. Other subjects are basic blueprint reading and proper techniques for constructing curtain walls and window walls. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Calculate sums and differences of measurements.
- Demonstrate the proper uses of common power tools used in ironworking.
- Accurately drill holes for fasteners in steel and aluminum.
- Create drawings by taking field measurements.
- Identify different types of fasteners and their proper installation.
