                  DAN 104 - Tap Dance 1, Experimental  Credits: 3            3 Skills Lab Hours   
  Description  This course is an introduction to tap dance.  Students acquire an understanding of the foundational principles and techniques characteristic of tap dance.   Emphasis is placed on the communicative nature of dance as an art form.  Various dance skills encourage body awareness and a commitment to physical activity.  No prior dance training is required. Learning Outcomes  Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
	- Explain dance as an art form.
 
	- Show an increase in body awareness, muscular strength, cardiovascular capacity, coordination and movement precision.
 
	- Demonstrate the communicative nature of dance and use it as a means of artistic expression.
 
	- Prepare a paper analyzing the history of tap dance and famous choreographic contributions with relevance to the art form.
 
	- Choreograph and perform a short tap dance solo
