PLT 115 - Mathematics for Plumbing 1 Credits: 3 3 Lecture Hours
Description This course lays the mathematical foundation for the plumbing profession. Students engage with computational methods and apply mathematical reasoning to practical problems in plumbing. The course emphasizes practical geometry for pipe measurement, fluid volumes and capacity analysis, addressing hydraulic and pneumatic system issues. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Calculate various pipe lengths given differing requirements.
- Evaluate the use of builder’s levels in plumbing projects.
- Estimate fluid volumes and pressures.
- Analyze the impact of conservation practices on plumbing-related environments.
- Determine angles specific to plumbing tasks.
- Create offsets, diagonals, rises and runs in pipe layouts.
- Construct plumbing layouts adhering to 45-degree angle constraints.
- Implement various strategies for equal spacing in pipe installation.
