PLT 224 - Estimating Credits: 2 2 Lecture Hours
Description This course equips students with advanced techniques in estimating for the plumbing trade. Students explore cost projection, analysis and the strategic concept of estimating while focusing on personnel needs, unit costs and quantitative analysis. Direct and indirect cost management are emphasized, alongside an in-depth review of refrigerant recovery certification and the economic impact of green materials and practices within the industry. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Calculate material quantities using established estimating procedures.
- Design estimate formats for diverse mechanical projects.
- Derive material quantities from technical drawings for bid preparation.
- Compile comprehensive bids incorporating cost analysis and project specifications.
- Assess cost differentials when implementing sustainable materials and methods.
- Determine specialty pricing based on project complexity and material selection.
- Create precise material take-offs based on unit measurements.
- Demonstrate safety protocols for refrigerant recovery in compliance with industry standards.
