Description
In this course, students explore sophisticated layout techniques and the utilization of industry-standard equipment, concentrating on advanced triangulation and parallel line development methods. Students engage in extensive lab work, applying these techniques to create ornamental and architectural sheet metal products. Course elements include constructing weather-resistant roofing components and interpreting architectural designs to address field challenges.


Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will: 

  1. Outline the sequence of architectural system installations. 
  2. Interpret architectural sketches to resolve field installation challenges. 
  3. Construct a weather-resistant standing seam roof system. 
  4. Create diverse roofing components to meet design specifications. 
  5. Assemble custom louvers designed for durability under weather conditions. 
  6. Design off-center roof jacks tailored to specific roof dimensions and pitches. 
  7. Calculate patterns for gutter miters with precision. 
  8. Install gutter miters effectively. 
  9. Solder architectural seams with accuracy. 
  10. Simulate varied roofing systems based on contractor specifications. 
  11. Plan a cupola using the provided measurements.
