ECT 151 - Electrical Construction Technology 2

Description
This course expands on foundational electrical installation skills with emphasis on alternating current systems, transformer applications and electrical safety-related work practices. Second-year apprentices at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #5 perform classroom and hands-on activities aligned with the Electrical Training Alliance second-session curriculum. Laboratory experiences include alternating current circuit construction, transformer assembly, code-based calculations, interpretation of construction plans and application of electrical safety standards.


Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:

  1. Construct alternating current circuits using inductive and capacitive components.
  2. Analyze alternating current circuit behavior in series, parallel and combination configurations.
  3. Assemble transformer connections using laboratory equipment or simulation tools.
  4. Apply electrical safety-related work practices consistent with industry standards.
  5. Perform foundational National Electrical Code calculations.
  6. Interpret residential construction plans for installation activities.
