ECT 201 - Adv Electrical Construction Tech 1 Credits: 10 14 Skills Lab Hours
Prerequisites: ECT 151
Description This advanced skills course focuses on electrical system installation, protection and control methods. Third-year apprentices at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #5 complete hands-on activities aligned with the Electrical Training Alliance third-session curriculum. Emphasis is placed on grounding and bonding, overcurrent protection, construction documentation, motor installations, motor control circuits, rigging practices and jobsite leadership behaviors. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Install grounding and bonding systems in accordance with code requirements.
- Select overcurrent protective devices based on installation conditions.
- Interpret construction documentation and plans for electrical layout and system integration.
- Install motors and motor control circuits.
- Troubleshoot motor control systems using diagrams and test procedures.
- Demonstrate safe rigging, hoisting and signaling practices.
