GEO 103 - Geography of U.S. and Canada Credits: 3 3 Lecture Hours
Description This course investigates the cultural development and physical environment of the United States and Canada. Students explore the relationships between these two countries and their global connections. Emphasis is placed on how geography, history and shared influences shape their interactions with the rest of the world. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Explain the principles and basic concepts of geography and the value of deeper study of such factors.
- Identify the impact of geophysical features on the economic, political and environmental development of the U.S. and Canada.
- Analyze the relevance of U.S. and Canada’s geography in a global context.
- Identify different types of maps and apply cartography skills to understand the relationship between place location and map location.
- Evaluate how cultures interact within and across the U.S. and Canada’s geographical regions.
- Identify the impact of humanity on the physical environment of the two regions.
