HIT 104 - Health Information Technology Credits: 2 1 Lecture Hours 2 Lab Hours
Description This course provides students an introduction to presentation software, basic spreadsheets, introduction to word processing, folder organization, installation of programs, web conferencing features and time management skills. Students learn about computer types, hardware, networks used in hospitals, electronic health record access management and information technology support skills needed to learn and work in a remote healthcare environment. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Complete assignments demonstrating the ability to navigate the program Learning Management System (LMS).
- Organize computer files and desktop.
- Create documents using word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.
- Utilize teleconferencing tools.
- Perform basic maintenance on computer.
- Troubleshoot internet and software issues.
- Complete online proctoring simulations.
- Access electronic health records.
- Define basic informatics terms.
