MEC 110 - Digital Electronics

Prerequisites: MEC 103 or Instructor Permission
Description
This course teaches students the basics of digital electronic devices and their applications through a series of hands-on exercises performed in the lab. Logic gates and truth tables are utilized throughout the course to reinforce digital circuit operations.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:

  1. Identify the various number systems and logic gates used in digital electronics.
  2. Convert between the number systems used in digital electronics.
  3. Verify the operation of basic logic circuits.
  4. Connect logic gates together to perform a specific function.
  5. Evaluate the output of a digital circuit based on all possible inputs.
  6. Construct a functional digital clock circuit.
