TTF 201 - Advanced Finishing Techniques and Quality Evaluation

Description
This course advances student proficiency in specialized tile and terrazzo finishing techniques, restoration procedures and quality evaluation methods used in complex finishing projects. Students analyze construction specifications and manufacturer requirements to determine appropriate finishing procedures. Advanced grinding and polishing techniques, decorative finishing systems, restoration methods and defect correction procedures are emphasized. Through classroom and laboratory activities, students evaluate completed surfaces for dimensional accuracy and workmanship quality while identifying and recommending corrective actions consistent with industry standards.


Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course the student will:

  1. Evaluate finishing specifications and manufacturer requirements for complex installations.
  2. Perform advanced grinding, polishing and surface refinement procedures.
  3. Restore damaged tile and terrazzo surfaces using accepted industry practices.
  4. Assess completed finishing installations for compliance with dimensional tolerances and workmanship standards.
  5. Recommend corrective procedures for surface defects or finishing deficiencies.
