PHY 224 - Modern Physics Credits: 3 3 Lecture Hours Prerequisites: PHY 223 This is a course in modern physics dealing with relativity, quantum mechanics and atomic structure. Major topics of study include: special and general relativities, the radiation laws, matter waves, atomic structure, Schrodinger’s equation in one dimension and three dimensions, tunneling, electron spin and multi-electron atoms and the periodic table.
