PSY 106 - Psychology of African Americans Credits: 3 3 Lecture Hours This course presents the psychological principles shaping the personality of African Americans. The course includes a critique of the applicability of theories and measures across societal and culture gropus such as “traditional” statistics, racial myths, discriminatory thinking and behavior. Analysis of attitudes and behaviors which develop in non-prejudiced and prejudicial socio-economic, educational, and political systems and ways to counteract them are reviewed. This course emphasizes proactive African-American leadership and the lifestyle of individual African Americans and their community.
