WLD 224 - Pipe Welding 3 - Downhill Credits: 3 2 Lecture Hours 2 Lab Hours Prerequisites: WLD 223 This course provides students with knowledge and skills to prepare for The American Petroleum Institute (API) downhill shielded metal-arc pipe welding process and certification. This process is employed by the Marcellus Shale industry to connect natural gas cross country transmission pipelines. Students will also be introduced to the branch tee takeoff, which includes laying out, cutting and welding. The testing fee for the downhill shielded metal-arc pipe welding certification is added to the tuition for this course.
