ATE 131 - Major Engine Service Credits: 4 5 Skills Lab Hours This course will introduce students to major engine repair using industry-approved procedures. Emphasis will be placed on component identifications, the proper use of measuring tools and determining the reusability of parts to restore engines to factory-approved specifications. Students will be able to make clearance checks, replace piston and rings, inspect and replace crankshaft bearings, service valve train components and make all required timing adjustments. Diagnosis of internal engine component failures using industry-recognized tools and techniques will also be covered. Certain course sections will be manufacturer specific.
