BIO 151 - General Biology 1 Credits: 4 3 Lecture Hours 3 Lab Hours Prerequisites: Eligibility for ENG 101 and MAT 108 and BIO 110 or two high school science classes (one a biology with lab) with a grade of C or better in the last five years. This course introduces students to atomic structure, important bioorganic molecules, cellular structure and function, cellular reproduction, genetic principles and biotechnology. Selected topics include an overview of cellular biochemistry, with emphasis on cellular respiration and photosynthesis. The accompanying laboratory program allows students to practice scientific procedures by conducting investigations which are coordinated with lecture topics. This course transfers to most four-year institutions. Students should consult a transfer counselor.
