DMS 125 - Vascular Ultrasound Credits: 4 3 Lecture Hours 2 Lab Hours Prerequisites: DMS-102 and DMS-105 Co-requisites: PHY-127 and DMS-135C
Theory and practical application are combined to progress the beginning student’s ability to scan and read normal vascular examinations by semester’s end. The theory portion of the course consists of learning normal anatomy, sonographic characteristics and the hemodynamic principles of the peripheral vascular system, the cerebral vascular system and the vessels of the abdomen. Instrumentation, scanning techniques, audible signals made by normal blood flow and position of the transducer for each vessel are covered in the laboratory portion of the course.
