EGR 111 - Route Surveying Credits: 4 3 Lecture Hours 2 Lab Hours Prerequisites: EGR 110 This course covers the principal topics of highway surveying including profiles, horizontal and vertical curves, mass diagrams+ and street layout. Emphasis is on the study of the geometry and field stake-out techniques of circular curves, spiral curves, compound curves, reverse curves, equal-tangent vertical curves, and unequal-tangent vertical curves, horizontal and vertical alignment design, earthwork quantities and mass diagrams. The student will perform both field and lab work to gather information about a general route to select one or more tentative general routes of a roadway and mark the final location.
