FCL 103 - Mythology Credits: 3 3 Lecture Hours A comparative study of major mythologies of the Western World (Greek, Roman, and Norse (or Teutonic), with emphasis on the relationship between earlier cultural and contemporary beliefs. The study of mythology provides an awareness of the recurring nature and influence of basic cultural themes, as well as the value of myths and legends to the study of modern anthropology, geography, history, psychology, science, and sociology, and an understanding of advertising, art, journalism, sports, and everyday speech.
