Description
This is a course to develop understanding of ecosystem structure and function, population dynamics, use of natural resources, disposal of waste materials and current topics in environmental science.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:

  1. Relate behavior of atoms and molecules to environmental hazards such as ionizing radiation.
  2. Identify basic components of an ecosystem.
  3. Trace the source and sink of biogeochemical cycles.
  4. Interpret human demographic data with regard to a particular country.
  5. Explain effects of toxins, air quality and water quality on human health.
  6. Summarize human energy use.
  7. Identify methods of energy conservation.
  8. Explain biological, hazardous and material waste disposal procedures.
