MAT 110 - Mathematics for Elementary Education 2

Description
This course is intended for students pursuing a career in teacher education. It is designed as a vehicle to develop a pedagogical framework for teaching mathematics in elementary grades. Students use a variety of materials for learning, work with conceptual models, use these to do mathematics and perform activities that demonstrate competence in communicating mathematics.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Analyze, apply and present multiple ways for learning geometry content, concepts and skills in elementary schools.
- Investigate, apply and justify multiple ways for learning measurement content, concepts and skills in elementary schools.
- Examine, compare and explain multiple ways for learning data analysis and probability content, concepts and skills in elementary schools.
- Use and explain mathematical representations, reasoning, problem solving and communication in order to gain insight and perspective into the nature of mathematics as taught in elementary schools.
