RAD 217 - Radiologic Technology 4 Credits: 4 4 Lecture Hours
Prerequisites: RAD 207 and RAD 208C Co-requisites: RAD 218C
Description This course includes a review of radiographic pathology, an introduction to optional supplementary imaging modalities and a review of the required functions of the radiologic technologist in preparing for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Examination in Radiography. This course requires a per credit health career fee; Check the tuition and fee schedule for the current rate. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Identify the full range of human pathologies as diagnosed within a radiology department.
- Operate a radiology department computer system.
- Qualify technical factors to demonstrate pathologies utilizing analog, computer and digital radiology.
- Examine supplementary modalities utilized to diagnose human pathology.
- Compare image formations necessary for each examination performed in a radiology department.
- Solve basic and complex density, contrast, detail and distortion imaging formulas.
- Describe and compare short-term and long-term effects from radiation exposure.
- Classify the various types of computer systems found in a radiology department.
- Analyze national board review questions to prepare for the radiography examination.
- Survey all the advanced imaging modalities in the radiology profession.
