CJC 205 - Introduction to Forensics Credits: 3 3 Lecture Hours
Description This course is a study of the scientific aspects of criminal investigation. Included are the study of fingerprints, the application of forensic sciences and the collection and examination of evidence. The student learns the capabilities of the advanced police science laboratory in the study of firearms, hair, fibers, blood, paint, tools, poisons and other material. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Appraise court rulings and their impact on investigative procedures.
- Describe the value of forensic laboratories.
- Summarize the importance of cooperation from everyone involved in the analysis of physical evidence.
- List the expertise of various personnel in the forensic laboratory.
- Describe the importance of comprehensive report writing.
- Outline the proper method of locating, packaging, recording and preserving evidence.
- Describe the importance of advances in technology.
