CRT 207 - Jury Charge 2 Credits: 3 3 Lecture Hours
Prerequisites: CRT 107 Co-requisites: CRT 206 and CRT 208
Description This course emphasizes speed development and readback of Jury Charge material. Appropriate abbreviations and phrases used in Jury Charge are reviewed. The goal is writing 140-160 words per minute for five minutes with transcription accuracy of 95 percent or better using Case CATalyst software. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Identify and analyze stroking errors and fluently read aloud machine shorthand notes.
- Write dictation of Jury Charge material at 140-160 words per minute using machine shorthand skills and transcribe under institutional supervision with the goal of 95 percent accuracy or higher by the end of the course.
- Write with speed and accuracy through sustained dictation periods at 140-160 words per minute for five minutes with transcription accuracy of 95 percent or higher.
- Use correct grammar and punctuation when transcribing.
