SDS 109H - Honoring Community through Service, Experimental Credits: 1 1 Lecture Hours
Description This course explores the transformative relationship between the individual and the community through service. Students will examine the philosophy and application of the servant as leader in preparation for a hands-on, real-world service project which grows from understanding critical issues in the community. The students will develop and implement a project that addresses community need, linking theory to practice. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Identify resources for learning about community issues.
- Develop a fundamental understanding of the community they wish to serve.
- Develop an understanding of the servant leader.
- Employ effective methods for initiating change and providing meaningful service to others.
- Analyze the transformative nature of service.
