Graphic Communications, A.S. (374.3)


This program prepares the student to develop an innovative portfolio of conceptual design. A concentration of traditional and digital courses in studio art and graphic communication allows students to develop the necessary conceptual, aesthetic and technical skills needed for entry-level positions in the print and digital design fields. Graduates may find employment as a graphic designer, production artist, illustrator, desktop publisher, web developer or freelance designer. Graduates may also elect to transfer to a four-year institution.

Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will :

  1. Apply Gestalt principles of design, typography, color theory, image-making skills and industry standard software as applied to visual communication.
  2. Analyze, synthesize and utilize the design processes and strategies from concept to delivery that creatively solve communication problems.
  3. Apply basic design principles in the progression from ideation, development, refinement and final solution that meets industry standards for print and interactive design production.
  4. Create graphic communication solutions on behalf of a client that resonate with target audiences.
