This program prepares the student to develop an innovative portfolio of conceptual design. A concentration of traditional and digital courses in studio art and graphic communication allows students to develop the necessary conceptual, aesthetic and technical skills needed for entry-level positions in the print and digital design fields. Graduates may find employment as a graphic designer, production artist, illustrator, desktop publisher, web developer or freelance designer. Graduates may also elect to transfer to a four-year institution.
Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will :
- Apply Gestalt principles of design, typography, color theory, image-making skills and industry standard software as applied to visual communication.
- Analyze, synthesize and utilize the design processes and strategies from concept to delivery that creatively solve communication problems.
- Apply basic design principles in the progression from ideation, development, refinement and final solution that meets industry standards for print and interactive design production.
- Create graphic communication solutions on behalf of a client that resonate with target audiences.
