Radiation Therapy, A.S. (565.3)

Radiation therapy involves the use of high energy radiation in the treatment of patients with malignant tumors. Registered radiation therapists are employed in major cancer treatment centers and in hospitals with radiation therapy departments.

Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will:

  1. Demonstrate clinical competency in the practice of radiation therapy.
  2. Employ effective communication skills.
  3. Apply critical thinking skills.
  4. Display professional behavior.

Applicants must be eligible for all program college-level courses. In addition, applicants must complete MAT 108  - Intermediate Algebra, BIO 110  - Introduction to Biological Science or BIO 151  - General Biology 1 and PHY 100  - Basic Physics or advanced placement high school physics with a C or above.

Graduates of this program are eligible to sit for the national credentialing exam in radiation therapy technology given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Enrollment is limited by the availability of clinical sites and other factors. Students must make separate applications to this program.

Transfer Opportunities for Radiation Therapy


Graduates in Radiation Therapy may transfer to pursue a BA in Medical Imaging at LaRoche University or Clarion University.

Also, CCAC graduates in Allied Health careers can further their education in Health Services Management/ Administration through articulation agreements with Carlow University  or Robert Morris University  .
