Associate of Science
This program prepares the graduate for entry level jobs in an environmental service field. Environmental technicians typically work under the direction of environmental scientists. They monitor the environment and investigate sources of pollution by performing laboratory and field tests. This degree is intended as a terminal degree although some courses may transfer to a 4-year institution.
Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will:
- Describe the composition, pollution and control of soil, water and air, and their impact on human health.
- Obtain skills necessary to properly field sample soil, water and air for various industries.
- Earn a 40-hour Hazardous Waster Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification from OSHA.
- Apply the principles of the scientific method to solve technical problems while in the field.
