Associate of Science

This program prepares students to meet the requirements for a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Commercial Pilot Single/Multi Engine Land certificate with an Instrument rating.

A minimum of a second-class medical is required for program entry.  A valid passport is required and one additional form of valid ID.  Registration for aviation courses requires approval by the Aviation Coordinator. 

Flight instruction for students is through a college-approved, FAA certified FAR141 fixed base operator. All flight training fees are in addition to college tuition and fees.

Upon completion of this program, graduates may find employment as a pilot or other roles in areas such as corporate, charter, freight, airline commuter, flight instructor or aerial/geographic mapping. In some areas, additional training may be required and students may transfer to a four-year college or university.

Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will:

  1. Demonstrate flight competency by exceeding FAA minimum requirements of pilot proficiency.
  2. Operate an aircraft in various meteorological conditions.
  3. Apply Crew Resource Management (CRM), Aeronautical Decision-Making (ADM), risk management skills and pilot fitness for flight.
  4. Define professional, ethical and social responsibilities of aviation professionals as they relate to the regional and national community.
