Global Studies, Certificate (103.2)

Location(s): Allegheny Campus, Boyce Campus, North Campus, South Campus

Certificate

The Global Studies certificate is designed to develop intercultural awareness and the critical skills to understand global political, social and economic trends. It would be a suitable accompaniment to a wide variety of majors and an enhancement to the credentials of those transferring to a four-year institution. The program is multidisciplinary and flexible, with an appealing aspect of student self-design.

Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will:

  1. Explain the relational nature of global processes and their impact on local circumstances.
  2. Appraise events within a global scheme of historical evolution.
  3. Describe the impact of globalization on different cultural societies and develop ability to appreciate cultural differences.
  4. Display basic communicative competence in at least one foreign language.
