Associate of Science

This program prepares graduates for entry or advancement in the foodservice, lodging, recreation, tourism and event management industry.

Students gain specialized knowledge for managing the business of hotels, resorts, restaurants, clubs, theme parks, contract food services, cruise lines, special events, convention and trade show events, wedding consulting and areas of the travel and tourism industry.

Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will:

  1. Demonstrate critical, conceptual and analytical thinking skills to effectively function as a manager or entrepreneur in the tourism, event and hospitality industry by evaluating past, present and future operations.
  2. Utilize professional and ethical communication and interpersonal skills for employment as a manager in the hospitality services industry such as tourism, destination management, marketing, event planning, lodging operations, recreation and food and beverage management.
  3. Identify industry terminology, financial controls and legal aspects of the foodservice, lodging, tourism, events and recreation management industry.
  4. Select, train, manage, communicate with and motivate employees while performing mid-level to upper management job functions.
