Associate of Arts

This program prepares the student for transfer to a four-year institution with a broad college background and significant coursework in psychology and the disciplines that support it.

Graduates work for a Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in Psychology or related fields. The program also provides a strong and diverse preparation in the liberal arts and sciences for those desiring a broad educational background for transfer to a variety of programs at four-year institutions.

Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will:

  1. Explain how the major concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings, historical trends and psychological principles apply to behavioral phenomena.
  2. Apply basic research skills, design principles and concepts to interpret behavior using critical and creative thinking and skeptical inquiry.
  3. Define formal regulations that govern professional ethics in psychology and the values that contribute to positive outcomes in societal response to diversity, multicultural and global concerns.
  4. Present a cogent scientific argument of psychological concepts in written and spoken form.
